Fall Camping - Mindfulness tips

Our journey to improve the mind, body, and soul takes the path less traveled this Fall and heads to the great outdoors. There are mental, physical, and spiritual benefits to getting away from the hustle and bustle and seeking solace in nature.

Autumn months are a prime time to get outdoors and go camping. The weather is cooler, the nights are clearer, and nature is putting on a festive color show with changing leaves. Before hitting the road and heading to get a great night’s sleep in the great outdoors, read these helpful tips.

6 camping hacks for a stress-free outdoor escape:

  1. DIY Fire Starters: A week or two prior to your trip, save your dryer lint and empty toilet paper (or paper towel) tubes. Once you have 3-4 saved up, take the dryer lint and stuff it into the center of the paper tube and keep them in a Ziploc bag. Then once you are at your campsite, place it on top of your fire pit and light as a fire starter. Easy and hassle free! 

  2. Keep Toilet Paper Dry:  No one likes soggy toilet paper when you’re out camping in the woods so to prevent that from happening, save your old plastic coffee cans. Not only does the toilet paper roll fit perfectly in the can, but most plastic cans have both handles and lids nowadays! 

  3. Tin Foil Dinners: One of the easiest and most fun ways to enjoy a campfire is to make your dinner on the open flames. The best way to do this is to make tin foil dinners. Just combine your favorite ingredients, roll everything up into a tin foil pouch, and then place the pouch on top of the fire.   4. Camping Bedding To-go: Just because you’re heading to the great outdoors doesn’t mean you have to leave comfort at home. We recommend creating a camping kit, including a comfy travel pillow, a set of sheets, a warm blanket, and a cozy down comforter. The great outdoors are even greater when you can enjoy the scenery in comfort.

  5. DIY Lantern: Flashlights are a camping must,but we’ve found an even better way to light up your campsite with a soft sleep-friendly glow. Take a gallon jug and fill it with water. Then take a headlamp and wrap it around the jug securely with the light facing the water. The makeshift lantern will light up the entire campsite with a soft light that does not interfere with your ability to see the stars or overstimulate your senses with bright LED lights.

  6. Keep it all together: Think that the only thing your over-the-door shoe caddy is good for storing is just shoes? Nope! Take one camping and hang it from a tree, and you have a portable organizer for anything you need to keep off the ground: utensils, kitchen equipment, food, and more.
